Alix Bortoli

Alix Bortoli is a French director and photographer based in Paris. After studying at Central Saint Martins School and the Royal College of Art in London, she began to develop her art by making fashion and animation films. These years enabled her to create concepts for editorial projects and art films, defining her favourite mediums and themes.
In 2018, she directed a short film entitled "Mediterranea". The Musée Georges Pompidou offered her the opportunity to join their permanent collection as an emerging talent. She was then spotted by Daisy Jacobs (Oscar-nominated director) to co-create the art direction for a feature film, the project being subsidised by the British Film Institute. Thanks to this exposure, she was spotted by the Royal Drawing School in 2019, which awarded her a bursary. A year later, the attention generated by her previous projects convinced Condé Nast to recruit her to teach art direction as part of their educational program.

In 2020, her film "Night Cab" won the British Vogue X YouTube Future Visionaries award, the Premier Plan prize at the Angers Film Festival and the Vimeo Staff Pick, and was shown at Yale University to film students.

In 2021, after her first experiences directing video clips (Polydor UK), she was contacted by Hermès to create video capsules around their emblematic bag, the Birkin. She continued her career as a director, working with brands such as Byredo, Courrège, Nike, Adidas, and magazines such as Harper Bazaar, Lampoon, Cap 74024 and Another Magazine (in collaboration with Willem Dafoe).

In 2022, she won the New Wave Fashion Awards. Literature, cinema, fine art: her artistic DNA offers a unique 360-degree experience. From concept to post-production, including live action and animation, Alix creates captivating films based on storytelling. Her expertise enables her to adapt to many types of production : photography, digital creation and campaigns, generating interest in her unique approach to communication.
