Matthijs Van Heijningen is a Dutch director currently residing in Amsterdam. He began his career creating ambitious commercials and short films. Since 1999, he has emerged as one of Europe’s most successful directors, earning numerous awards at various festivals.
Van Heijningen has directed commercials for renowned brands such as Toyota, PlayStation, Samsung, Heineken, Stella Artois, and Canal+. His Canal+ commercial "The Bear" stands out as one of the most memorable commercials in recent times.
He was selected to direct the film "The Thing," inspired by the renowned 1982 John Carpenter film. More recently, he helmed "The Forgotten Battle," which received a Golden Film Award in the Netherlands.
Van Heijningen possesses a distinctive style characterized by a blend of comedy, intricate storytelling, and refined aesthetics.
